Creamy Apple Smoothie
I have to admit this before continuing, I do get apples to eat daily but they mostly end up in refrigerator for days and then go to trash :( It is not that I don't like the taste of the apples but I am too lazy to chop and eat. So recently I promised to myself I will try at least not to waste fruits. To do that the best way that worked is planning! Every Sunday I make a list of meals and snacks I plan to eat that week and also make list of fresh produce needed to make those. I have been doing this for 3 months now and I do see less food waste, especially fruits.
In this process, I did learn that each fruit has it's own benefits and the saying ' apple a day keeps doctor away' can be modified to ' fruit a day keeps doctor away '! Okay, what I want to say is, we know apples are in dirty dozen, so organic apples are best to have. But at same time organic produce can be expensive in some countries or regions. So instead of getting fresh organic fruits and wasting them by not eating and then thinking fruits are expensive. It is always better to plan your food for the week or two and get different types of organic fruits and veggies for that week. This saves money and also you get real fruit benefits without any pesticides added. If still it is not possible to get organic apples, make sure you peel the apple before eating.
Recipe : Creamy Apple Smoothie
Servings : 2 medium glasses
Vegan | Gluten-Free | Refined Sugar-Free
2 medium size Apples
1 ripe Banana
2 pitted Dates
1 tsp Cinnamon Powder
1 tbsp Flaxseed Meal ( optional )
1/4 cup Oats Milk ( any plant milk )
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend!
Serve and enjoy!
