Homemade Nut Milk

Before starting, can we just admire the colors!! Its always fun to have a pop of color on a regular day. Okay, coming to nut milk, we all know nuts are healthy and stuff and we do see many recipes on how to make homemade nut milk. In this post I am gonna share my way of making it from scratch and also short-cut way!!

I am plant-based but my husband is not and I am completely okay with it. But the problem comes in the meal preps. When I make a gallon of nut milk from scratch, I cannot complete it within a week, as I mostly use nut milk only for breakfast. And also I find the process to be a little hectic to follow regularly. So, I have a super simple and easy short cut way which I am gonna share with you all!

Recipe : Nut Milk

Servings : 1-2 liters / 5 cups

Vegan | Refined Sugar-Free


Ingredients : 

1 cup Almonds ( or Cashews/Walnuts/Oats )

3-4 cups Filtered Water

3 tbsp Maple Syrup ( optional ) ( sweetener of choice )


Tools :

High Speed Blender

Strainer or Cheese Cloth


Process : 

  • Soak your almonds in water for at least 8 hrs or overnight.

  • Then drain the water and add soaked almonds to the blender with filtered water and sweetener of your choice. 

  • Try adding liquid sweetener over granule.

  • Blend on high for 3-4 mins or till you see the almonds crush to tiny pieces.

  • Strain the almond milk using strainer or cheese cloth. If you are using the milk in oatmeal, you can just add the blended milk without straining.

  • Store the strained almond milk in a air-tight glass bottle for 1 week in fridge.

Short Cut Process :

  • For this, you need unsweetened nut butter, preferably homemade ( recipe here ).

  • Add 1/2 cup of nut butter to the blender with 1 1/2 cup of filtered water and sweetener of choice. 

  • Blend on high for 2-3 mins or till the nut butter is completely mixed with the water.

  • Store in air-tight glass bottle for 1 week in fridge.

For Fun Colors ( optional ) :

  • For pink, purple and green I used 100% Natural Super food powders from Unicorn Superfoods.

  • And for yellow, I used 1/2 tsp of Pure Turmeric Powder ( make sure its organic ).
