Vegan | Sugar - Free
Prep Time : 25 mins
Cook Time : 20 mins
Total Time : 45 mins
Yield : 5 - 6 dumplings
1/2 cup All purpose flour ( use gluten-free flour for gluten-free version )
1/4 cup Water
1 cup Cabbage
1 medium Onion
1/4 cup Tofu
1 tsp Chili Powder
1/2 tsp Coriander Powder
1/2 tsp Salt
1/4 cup Cilantro
In a mixing bowl, add flour, pinch of salt, water and mix to get pizza dough consistency. Cover it with a bowl or plastic and keep it aside for 20-30 mins.
In mean time prepare the stuffing. Finely chop cabbage, carrot, onion and dry on frying pan for 5 mins on medium flame. Keep stirring constantly to avoid burn. ( This step is for reducing water content in the veggies ).
Turn the flame to low and add scrambled tofu and saute for 3-4 mins. Now add the spices, chili powder, coriander powder, salt and chopped cilantro.
Saute for 3-4 mins and transfer the mix to a bowl and place in refrigerator for 15 mins. ( This makes the stuffing process easy )
Now divide the prepare dough into small balls and press them to 3 inch circles. Use dry flour to avoid sticking.
Place 1-2 tbsp of stuffing on the circles and fold them to dumpling shape with hand. ( folding takes a little practice , you may not get first 2 perfect but keep doing to get perfect shape. Check youtube videos on how to press dumplings in different shapes for more ideas ).
Now place the pressed dumplings in boiling water and let cook for 10 mins. Remove from water and let dry for 15 mins.
Can serve boiled dumplings or pan fry for 3-4 mins to get that little crunch. Serve with roasted sesame seeds and traditional peanut sauce!
VARIATION : Can deep fry instead of boiling. Use different type os vegetables like, mushrooms, peas, potato as stuffing.
STORAGE : Store in refrigerator for 3-4 days.
